Aquel chico

Nunca me pudo ver.  Yo me senté.
Aquel chico me hizo pensar.

 Buena suerte Leo!

I just "knew" him  many years ago.
It was a Sunday, a Sunday afternoon any of 1998. The cold of January pushed all of us to escape from being on the street and looking for a warm place to hang out. I walked into a crowded room of people. He was sitting at a table playing poker. I was all alone, surrounded by strangers. He lit everything with his smile and his eyes. He could never see me. I sat. Three hours and fifteen minutes later, something had changed inside of me, forever.
In the following hours, on successive days, in the months they went by,  I never forgot that I had to go there all alone. And perhaps it was this fact that gave importance to all. Perhaps it was also that guy.
That guy made me think about. As far as a teenage girl of eighteen like me could reach to think . A girl who wanted someone to help to waking up, but not with a kiss of a charming prince, but with a pull arm. Someone put my life upside down. A plan that is not the typical plan. Nothing jack, queen and king. I wanted to cry. Fail and get up every single time. Feel what it was a broken heart. Laugh. Being able to love someone more than I loved myself. Jump. Fly.
Think not always lead to put something into practice at the time, and it should be because this thing takes time to mature. Time passed. I was growing up and that guy grew too. I saw him year after year, becoming older, more serious, more confident. Finding his site, at the same time I was also going slowly finding my own, without  jacks, without queens and without kings. Just like I’ve  dreamed.
And I suppose this is why I still feel theses special feelings for that guy, closer to the platonic than the real love, I must say come. Perhaps he was the person who, inside my head, pulled my arm and helped to my eyes were opened, so that was not afraid to go into the world to find exactly what I wanted from life. Maybe it was the perfect time, maybe it was all over.
Therefore it is very important to me that this guy finally win his first Oscar tomorrow night. For what he represents for me inside my little personal story, and so much that I read it represents for the whole generation of those people born between 70 and early 80s,
Good luck, Leo!
